Castle Fire is an event of Termoli tradition that takes place during the night of August 15 of each year. The city relives, through particular and very suggestive representations, one of the most important and tragic event of its history.
The event is an explosion of lights and pyrotechnical fire that surrounds Svevo Castle with a spectacular luminous aura. This traditional celebration recalls the historic event of 1566, when there was an assault of the old village by Ottoman troops led by Pialj Pascià. A brutal attack that affected not only the coast of Termoli but also that of Abruzzo and Puglia. The castle was besieged and burned, although a courageous resistance by the population. Castle Fire is a historical-popular representation that attracts many visitors each year to enjoy the famous play of lights. A real show that is preceded in the afternoon by a particular parade of local people dressed as Saracens. Some Paranze, boats land, on Termoli beach and recall the invasion of the invaders, with subsequent fights and fire.
In addition to the show there are, on the seafront, stalls, music shows and street food. An evocative evening, during which history and tradition create a unique and exciting spectacle.
