Montenero di Bisaccia

Montenero di Bisaccia, small municipality on a tuff mount, adds to its name Bisaccia, an ancient village near Tecchio source. The “black mountain”, on the other hand, is a dense forest that dominates the mountain, while in the southwest there are numerous caves in the tuff that are still visible and very extensive. These are Palaeolithic troglodytic homes were have been found several finds. During the Christmas period, these caves are the protagonists of a characteristic nativity scene.

On the hill of Montebello, twelve km from the village, from a sighting tower it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking view that includes an enchanting landscape characterized by an intensely cultivated land and a dense network of olive trees that arrive until the sea. Montenero di Bisaccia, today, is the town of oil and ventricina – a special salami made in Molise.
