MACTE is the Museum of Contemporary Art of Termoli. The building is located in the past market area of China Street, near Police Commissariat and Municipal Pool. In 2011, Municipal Council gave the go-ahead for the work. Initially, this place was supposed to become an auditorium to host performances and concerts, but given its small size, it was opted for the contemporary art museum.
The redevelopment work lasted four years cause some problems during the renovation of the old building. More modifications were necessary for technical problems and this delayed the inauguration in February 2016. The museum is sober, elegant and functional. A big change considering the inconvenience that the building originally showed.
Museum of Contemporary Art of Termoli has been strongly wanted and the aim is to look to the art in a new style. A change for young people and all citizens thanks to new artistic languages. The museum is not yet open every day, currently is open to the public only in occasion of organized events and exhibitions.
In the future, MACTE, Museum of Contemporary Art in Termoli, could host also the entire Prize Termoli collection.
